Officer Mike Northey joined the Arvada Police Department on February 20, 1978. He was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle after he stopped two motorcycle riders on August 11, 1979. The mission of the W. Michael Northey Foundation is to honor and preserve the memory of Officer Michael Northey by providing financial assistance to officers and their families in times of need and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors in Arvada to further their education.
